Portage Park is bungalow belt at its most concentrated. The dominant type by a wide margin is the 1920s Chicago-style brick bungalow: one and a half stories, shallow hipped roof, wide overhanging eaves, front dormer, and an attic that in a large share of these houses was finished into living space at some point over the last century.
